Set amongst the sails of Sydney's iconic Opera House, Dion Lee presented his confident Resort 2018 collection

In the span of about 15 minutes last night, Dion Lee proved two things: Firstly, that his ability to make sartorial magic transfers perfectly to the male of the species, courtesy of a sharp debut mens collection and secondly, that he is entirely deserving of the coveted first-show slot on the MBFWA schedule.

With a collection that rose to the sleek, urban beauty of its surrounds, models walked in cleverly disguised workwear and utility staples, deconstructed into sexy, edgy dresses, skirts and suiting. Detailing was exacted in precision-cut liquid silk pieces, tromp l'oeil stripes that on closer inspection were, in fact, splices of silk laid over netting and mille feulle-esque layers of ribbon that sculpted around the body.

Freshly-announced as one of the DNSW Faces of Fashion for 2017, Dion Lee presented an exquisite collection fit for an iconic location, setting the bar high for the week ahead.
