The New York-based fashion designer has had a rollercoaster 12 months, finishing up his brief tenure as creative director of Balenciaga and launching two 10-year anniversary reissue and charity campaigns. So in true New York fashion, he celebrated with a huge presentation of S/S '16 womenswear collection, followed by an awesome after party. Here, we bring you the highlights:

1. Reaching the 10 year milestone of your namesake label is a big deal in anyone's book, but especially in an age of designer closures and economic uncertainty. As one of the true noughties-era designers, Wang's show celebrated everything our generation is known for: celebrities like Kanye West, Lady Gaga, The Fat Jew, The Weeknd and Bella Hadid; money (the designer threw Wang-branded $10 bills into the air), pole dancers and even a video highlights reel (a nod to the YouTube generation perhaps?), plus a stall selling Wang's Do Something charity campaign T-shirts.

2. The show was the perfect intro for a night of debauchery starring all of Wang's A-list music and fashion friends and runway model pals. Set at Pier 64, the wild party hosted guests like Tyga and Kylie Jenner, Nicki Minaj, Zoë Kravitz, Riley Keough, Joan Smalls and Karlie Kloss - who feasted on sliders and chicken wings proffered by Hooters-shirt wearing waitresses and listened to performances by Tinashe and Lil Wayne.
3. And before you get distracted by all the partying - don't overlook the collection. Taking a grass-roots approach (which effectively circles back to Wang's early design days), the designer opted for a streets-inspired collection. Unashamedly streetwear elements like hoodies, khaki jackets, bombers, denim and leather ruled the show, bringing Wang's New York cool kid vibe straight back to spotlight. It was a happy birthday, indeed.
