With New York fashion week kicking off on Thursday, prepare to see one stylish accessory worn everywhere: a pink pin.
The Council of fashion designers of America (CFDA) has announced a new partnership with Planned Parenthood, who'll be officially supporting the organisation throughout the coveted fashion event. As part of the movement, the organisation have created pink "Fashion Stands with Planned Parenthood" pins that will distributed to models, designers, PR agencies, press and other guests who'll be attending the shows. According to Vogue US, each will pin will also come with an info card explaining Planned Parenthood services.
"We are truly thrilled by the Council of Fashion Designers of America's show of support for Planned Parenthood at New York Fashion Week," Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, announced.
"Planned Parenthood has stood defiantly in the face of opposition for a century, and we're not backing down now. The American people overwhelmingly support our organization and strongly oppose 'defunding' care at our health centres. Planned Parenthood's millions of supporters, including the CFDA, are mobilizing to protect access to reproductive health and rights for everyone, including the 2.5 million patients we serve, and we will continue to fight to ensure that all people can get the care they need."
Over forty designers have already put their hands up to support the initiative, including Diane Von Furstenberg, Kate Spade New York, Tory Burch, Caronlina Herrara, and Jonathan Simkhai.
With an abundance of models, influencers and designers sporting the pins over the next two weeks, we have a feeling #istandwithpp will be the most popular hashtag of NYFW.
