The fashion world mourned when the Scottish designer closed his eponymous label in December last year (read up on that here), but now, Saunders will bring his beloved high-voltage prints and saturated colour to Diane von Furstenberg.
The American fashion house made the announcement this morning, with Diane von Furstenberg herself extolling Saunders' talents. "Jonathan's extraordinary passion for colours and prints, his effortless designs and his desire to make women feel beautiful make him the perfect creative force to lead DVF into the future," she said of the appointment. "I could not have found a cooler, more intelligent designer and I cannot wait to watch him shine."
Saunders is the company's first ever chief creative officer, and he will be tasked with broader responsibilities than that of a traditional creative director. His first collection will be S/S '17.
