The Nike 'cortez' is about as iconic as it gets for anyone with even a passing interest in footwear - introduced way back in 1972 as a track and field shoe, it's a performance running shoe that also claims a stake in the style arena. A cool, classic design that is still as relevant today as it was when it launched 45 years ago.

But fashion is always evolving and when the classic shoe caught the eye of laid back, cool LA brand A.L.C. they knew it was something they wanted to put their contemporary hip LA spin on. Teaming up with Nike, A.L.C. have created The Cortez by A.L.C.  - a luxe upgrade on the original shoe coming in three tones - black, apricot and cream.

A.L.C. founder and creative director Andrea Lieberman says, "I wanted the Cortez by A.L.C to be an elevated option for the modern women. A sneaker that could fit seamlessly into our wardrobes and lives." Lieberman even set a mantra for the collab: "Do it, own it. Think how you can. Love more."

The campaign for the Cortez by A.L.C. stars US Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas, models Bhumika Arora and Cindy Bruna and was shot on Venice Beach. Speaking to BOF, Lieberman said the women in the campaign all embody her mantra for the collab, "All these women have such beautiful spirits and stand for these tenets in their lives... Inside the sneakers we have printed these tenets."
