The new logo tee: Gucci x Coco Capitán capsule collection
Gucci have done it again. First there was the launch of a homewares collection, then a travel app, and now the label has revamped the logo tee in a typically genius fashion.
The Gucci logo tee has really had its moment this year. Seen draped across every other blogger and celebrity from Chiara Ferragni to Kendall Jenner and Jared Leto, consumers were clawing to get their hands on one for themselves. Now Gucci have taken the logo tee one step further, rolling out ready-to-wear pieces and accessories in their A/W'17 collection with ironic quotes handwritten across the iconic logo.
The pieces are collaboration between Gucci creative director, Alessandro Michele and young Spanish artist Coco Capitán, and were introduced on the brands A/W'17 runway earlier this year. You may also recognise the artist's collaboration from that outfit Rihanna wore to Coachella, featuring a head to toe bejewelled body suit and a Gucci tee that read 'Common sense is not that common.'
Other quotes that appear across the capsule collection include, 'What are we going to do with all this future?' and 'Tomorrow is yesterday.' Speaking in a Q&A on the brands website, Capitán explained of her work: "I have been making writing all my life... I think words are very precious and if put together in the right order they can create a linguistic masterpiece that feels like your favourite painting."
The collection is now available in selected Gucci boutiques and online. Aussies, our lonely continent has failed us once again - we will have to hold tight until word is released on when the collection will be available here.
