As part of LV's ongoing 'Spirit of Travel' series, the video campaign features standout pieces from the label's Cruise '16 collection, as well as highly covetable handbags and the house's famed travel trunks. While Michelle Williams' delicate elfin beauty has earmarked her as a striking Louis girl for the past couple of seasons, relative newcomer Alicia Vikander is just starting her journey with the brand. We first spotted her in the A/W'15 campaign and then noticed her popping up at events, such as the cruise party and the recent Series 3 exhibition in London.
Creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere probably couldn't have planned Alicia's ambassadorship better, with 2016 shaping up to be the year the Swedish stunner conquered Hollywood. From roles in Testament of Youth, Ex Machina, The Man From U.N.C.L.E and the forthcoming Eddie Redmayne transgender drama The Danish Girl, Vikander has to be one of Hollywood's busiest actresses. Campaign co-star Michelle Williams has been quiet this year, but has two film projects in the pipeline for 2016 - Manchester-by-the-Sea and an untitled Kelly Reichardt project with Kristen Stewart.
The campaign is set in the Palm Springs desert and also features the incredible Space Age architecture of the Bob Hope house where the Cruise '16 collection was held. As Michelle gets contemplative driving through the desert, the husky-voiced Alicia gets friendly with a snake and the two then take a journey to the John Lautner-designed house - in a fusion of fashion and travel that Louis Vuitton always explores so brilliantly.
