As a business often lambasted for being ageist, sexist, sizeist and diversity-lite, the fashion industry sure has some atoning to do. But if there's one shred of positivity among all the sexual harassment and underweight model claims that have circulated this year, we have this: the all-black 2018 Pirelli calendar. After scoring a behind-the-scenes look earlier this year, we noted that the cast of the Tim Walker shoot featured icons such as Naomi Campbell, Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Whoopi Goldberg, RuPaul and Dijmon Hounsou next to newcomers and It-people like Aussie Duckie Thot, Adwoa Aboah, Lupita Nyong'o, Sasha Lane and musician Lil Yachty.

Styled by British Vogue's new editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, the Alice's Adventures in Wonderland-themed shoot is a trip down fantasy lane. With Aussie model Dickie Thot taking centre stage as Alice, the starring role is a coup for the young model, whose career has taken off since moving to the States. The political statement is a fairly new direction for the famous Pirelli calendar, which has historically tasked photographers like Terry Richardson and Mario Testino to take highly sexualised photos of the industry's hottest young models and actresses. But thanks to last year's 2017 calendar, shot by Peter Lindbergh and featuring a rollcall of some of the most beautiful over-40 celebs we know, such as Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz and Helen Mirren, it seems the Pirelli crew have been keen to celebrate a broader, more inclusive range of beauty.

No doubt being shot for a Pirelli calendar still counts as one of the top honours in the fashion industry, but we're loving that it's no longer confined to just Victoria's Secret models. We can't wait to see the full set of images...
