When it comes to style and fashion, there are but a handful of celebrities whose opinions we regard as gospel. Cate Blanchett is one, Diane Kruger is probably another, and well, Sarah Jessica Parker is arguably at the top of the list, due to her close friendship with countless designers, including the late Alexander McQueen. So when she weighs in on the debate surrounding Kim Kardashian's "style icon" status, we listen.
As followers of Kardashian's Snapchat will already know, S.J.P met her backstage at Kanye West's Madison Square Garden concert last week, a huge moment for Kimmy K. "You're like my idol," the Kardashian gushed at Parker in one of three snaps she posted at the time. "You're the most amazing person on the planet."
Then, this week, at a fragrance launch for her new drop, Stash, S.J.P told to the Daily Mail that yes, the feeling is somewhat mutual(ish). "She was lovely. My son is a huge Kanye fan, and they were really gracious and allowed him time with Kanye," she said. "And that was in large part Kim's doing." Sweet. "There was a focus that I witnessed. Not just with my son - whom she gave a lot of time to - but with everyone in the room. She was never looking over her shoulder, she was hospitable and lovely."
So, does she consider Kardashian a "style icon"? "I don't know what icon means anymore," asserted Parker. "'I don't think of myself as a style icon. I think Kim obviously has enormous influence and she is more and more aware of what she wants and the images that she chooses to project, which she is in complete control of. " Adding, "I think she is a young woman who is evolving all the time and one shouldn't make a decision about anybody. She is not baked and done - I'm not either - so let her experiment and delight in the choices she has to make and let's be kind to one another and be good to one another."
