With so many colours in the rainbow it's a tricky task for fashion designers and us mere mortals to decide which hues we should be donning next season - we all need some sartorial direction now and then. So thank the style gods for colour code authority Pantone - they lay out which on-trend colours to wear in the coming season and which shades to decorate our houses with (millennial pink forever).

And with the kick off to New York Fashion Week Spring 2018 happening as you read this the Pantone peops have revealed the key hues for us to clock on the catwalk and start planning to introduce into our day-to-day wardrobe.

Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute said in a statement on the Pantone website, "In order to reflect the consumers' ongoing fascination with colour, we broadened the direction for Spring 2018 to show where hues are headed by including 12 outstanding call out colours as well as four spring classics." Usually Pantone only predict 10 shades, so this represents a serious upsize in colour code class.

The shades include bright sunny yellow, cherry tomato, retro green, soft pink with Eiseman saying, "...this expanded palette embraces the lack of gender and seasonal borders we are seeing within the fashion industry."
