When art and fashion collide, expect fireworks
The annual Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala is arguably the fashion world's most spectacular nights, and for an industry fuelled on glamour and luxury, that is no mean feat. Known for its A-list attendees and daring red carpet looks, the First Monday in May celebrates the opening of the Met's spring exhibition, which this year celebrates Japanese master coutourier Rei Kawakubo.
Entitled Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between, the exhibit is the first to honour a living designer since 1983 and if the archives are anything to go by, we can expect fantastical fashion creations on a grand and innovative scale.
