Louis Vuitton opens stunning store in Place Vendôme, Paris

A pigtailed Judy Garland in a pale blue gingham dress once said "there's no place like home," and Parisian fashion house, Louis Vuitton feels the same. Tapping its ruby shoes together three times, the luxury design house will open the doors to Maison Louis Vuitton Vendôme on October 4. The Place Vendôme neighbourhood has long been the home of travel goods, fashion and jewellery, and it was in these streets that a young Louis Vuitton opened his first store in 1854.

Maison Louis Vuitton Vendôme will bring together the House's traditional métiers of couture, ready-to-wear, jewellery, watchmaking, leather goods, shoes, fragrances and accessories in two beautiful 17th century Parisian townhouses (particuliers). The houses have been home to courtiers, nobles, aristocracy, princess and the future emperor Napoléon III.

Following a deconstructive 1908s 'renovation', Architect Peter Marino has returned the two buildings to their historic roots. The floors have been returned to its 18th century grandeur, ceilings have been returned to their original lavish height and the façade has been sensitively restored. Mariano has successfully created an old-meets-new elegance with glass, stone and artisanal wall coverings making Maison Louis Vuitton Vendôme open and filled with light.

Place Vendôme will house two working ateliers; the haute joaillerie will transform precious stones into exclusive jewellery, and Atelier Rare & Exceptionnel will customise pieces from the latest collections. The store will also display a selection of contemporary artworks from around the world, along with archival Louis Vuitton trunks.
