Boy, David Fincher's Se7en has nothing on this. In the most creative retrospective we've seen yet, legendary British stylist Edward Enninful, fashion and style director of W Magazine, has celebrated 25years in the biz by asking his most famous supermodel pals to star in a video version of the seven deadly sins. With Kate Moss as lust, Naomi Campbell as pride, Karlie Kloss as greed, Jourdan Dunn as envy, Lara Stone and Anna Ewers as gluttony, Mariacarla Boscono as sloth and Karen Elson as wrath, the 13 minute film is a so-2016 interpretation of the deadly sins, complete with selfies, real-life trolling comments, trippy CGI effects.
The project is part of a collaboration by Beats by Dre and is soundtracked with killer beats by Jamie xx, The Internet, A$AP Ferg, with a voiceover from hip-hop artist Travis Scott - so it reads like one long extended music video filled with some of the world's top models. Speaking to Dazed about the project, Enningful says, "I realised that I didn't want to do something that was just reflective, like looking back on my career, I wanted to do something that was related to now and to digital media."
"I came up with the idea of doing all of my favourite muses as the seven deadly sins - but related to the world we live in: selfies, crime, people trolling each other - we wanted to use the deadly sins in that context of today's digital era." In particular, the nasty comments on Jourdan Dunn's section were actual comments, some of which had been aimed at the video's director Nick Knight. After all, what could be more 2016 than trolling?
