Cocktail hour sophistication meets sexy Aussie athleticism in F E L L A

Sydney swim label F E L L A doesn't work small: Their first collection in 2012, an innovative line of swimwear that could be customised to fit, offered no less than 195 unique style combinations; Their first famous fan came in the form of no other than She Of The Enviable Bikini Body, supermodel Emily Ratajkowski. Now, with a powerful social following and industry e-tail giant Net-a-Porter clambering to sell their collections, the label, by Rosie Iffla and Christine Tang, is set to dive in head-first into cult fashion status.

Here, the duo offer Buro a first look at their dreamy, colour-soaked resort campaign and chat all things underwater luxe.

What sets F E L L A apart from other brands?
When we started, we really felt there was a lack of simplistic, well-made swimwear for women. Everything had frills, padding or florals. We just wanted to create minimalist, luxurious feeling swimsuits suitable for women from day to night. So we sourced Italian and Australian fabrics with compositions very similar to lingerie and created well-tailored designs to flatter the female figure.

We also offer exclusive custom alterations to our original designs to our online customers. Aside from selling in separates, we felt that a lot of women have difficulty in buying swimwear because the majority of women don't fit standard sizing. Offering things such as cup changes, lengthening of straps and changes to bum cuts, women can tailor swimsuits to best fit their physiques.

What was your starting point for the resort collection?
Inspiration for this collection came from the region of Provence, France. The colour palette was from the regions iconic flora - from the olive and citrus trees to the lavender fields. Our stripe collection draws from the French flag of white navy and red.

How did Emily Ratajkowski stumble upon the brand?
We don't actually know! We believe it was through revolve.com one of our big US stockists. She was wearing our best-selling Dylan high neck wrap top.

How do you envision women wearing F E L L A?
We don't just see women wearing F E L L A at the beach, we see her wearing it with wide-leg, high-waisted pants through the cobbled streets of the Santorini. We see her wearing it with an oversized linen shirt climbing some rocks on the Amalfi coast exploring, we see her wearing it at Icebergs from the ocean pool straight to bar at sunset.
