New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala is like the Oscars of fashion - every designer wants to put a famous face in one of their creations and be beside that celebrity when they walk the red carpet. Invitations to this hallowed event are one of the most prized tickets to score and are the ultimate nod of approval from the high priestess of fashion herself, the host of the Gala, Vogue's Anna Wintour.

For 2018's event, be ready to be dazzled by liturgical style references with the just-announced theme of: Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. The ecclesiastical-themed event will be held as usual on the first Monday in May to mark the opening of the Met's annual fashion exhibition of the same name/theme.

Last year, which was themed Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons, saw some of the best social media moments in history including the celebrity-stacked 'bathroom selfie', Alexander Wang's crew Gossip Girl Metropolitan Museum steps moment and out-of-this-world looks such as Cara Delevingne's alien-chic silver painted scalp.

Anna Wintour's co-hosts for the 2018 Gala are style icons Amal Clooney, Rihanna and Donatella Versace and with such a rich history connecting the church and fashion, it could just be the best Met Gala yet. Mark your calendars now.
