Haute Couture is a prestigious business. That's why so few labels actually make it into the schedule of Paris Couture Week. With accredited regulars among the likes of Chanel, Dior and Valentino, it's something of a coup to be invited to show during Couture Week - but that hasn't stopped Vetements from scoring the ultimate nod of approval.
The hotter-than-hot label has been invited to show as a special guest of Paris Couture Week in July this year, a move which will bring even more buzz and attention to the cool-girl brand. With a decidedly anti-establishment in tone (read our Vetements interview here), earlier this year, designer Demna Gvasalia spoke about wanting to show off the usual ready-to-wear calendar, and announced plans to merge the brand's women's and men's collections from January 2017. While showing during Paris Couture is certainly a surprise (Vetements rarely design anything even vaguely resembling a red-carpet gown), Demna has worked at Margiela and Louis Vuitton, so he certainly knows craftsmanship. Frankly, we can't wait to see what kind of attitude they bring to Couture Week.
