Gucci celebrates the Year of the Dog with an exclusive dog-filled capsule collection

It's a dog's world, and Gucci is just living in it: to celebrate Chinese New Year starting February 16, the Italian fashion house has released a capsule collection dedicated to the Year of the Dog. The 63 item capsule collection consists of canine adorned clothing and accessories inspired by a pillow that the artist Helen Downie (AKA Unskilled Worker) gave as a gift to Gucci's Creative Director Alessandro Michele, which featured an illustration of his two Boston terriers, Bosco and Orso.

The relationship between Michele and Downie has become one of mutual infatuation. The courtship began in 2015 when Michele discovered Downie's work on Instagram and invited her to take part in an art exhibition at the Minsheng Art Museum in Shanghai. Things really became official with the release of the pair's Gucci x Unskilled Worker collection in October last year. This is the second artistic collaboration that Downie has contributed to for Gucci.

The Year of the Dog collection features brightly coloured knitted sweaters, and denim shorts with patchwork images of the dogs' faces, as well as men's hoodies and bomber jackets. The pups also decorate colourful leather clutch bags and wallets; backpacks and tote bags; scarves, trainers, watches and jewellery.

The collection is now available in all markets, both in Gucci stores and on
