Faux fur is the new real fur with luxury labels Versace and Furla both announcing they will no longer be using real fur in their designs

Chalk two points up for PETA, the animal rights organisation seems to be winning the war against fashion brands using real fur in their designs with Versace and Furla set to go fur-free.

According to W Donatella Versace said in a recent interview, "Fur? I am out of that. I don't want to kill animals to make fashion. It doesn't feel right." W reports the Versace brand has yet to put out an official statement or a timeline for when the fur-free stance will start, but if Donatella says she's done with fur, it'll happen.

The second brand also going fur-free is luxury Italian accessories brand Furla. WWD broke the news in an exclusive with the site reporting Furla will go fur-free from, "...the cruise 2019 collection that will be in stores November." According to the article the brand will only use "ecological fur" in their men's and women's products going forward.

WWD reports Furla's chief executive officer, Alberto Camerlengo said, "The decision to progressively ban from the collections the use of animal fur is a project that confirms the brand's increasing interest in the environment, with particular attention to the animal world, to which Furla is very sensitive."
