Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley, former creative director and womenswear design director of Marc by Marc Jacobs, are set to launch their own collection

Amid the recent news that Marc by Marc Jacobs is folding, industry insiders were left wondering what would happen to the designers. But now all has been revealed, with the pair launching the aptly titled Hillier Bartley, a luxury brand that will comprise of ready-to-wear, bags and accessories.

Curious? You won't have to wait long: their first collection is slated to be autumn/winter '15/16 and has already been presented to buyers.

"Hillier Bartley is a very personal project which Katie and I have been working on for years. It is a culmination of everything I have learnt as a designer and a woman and is purely and defiantly about the clothes and fabrics," Bartley says. "We have also looked at the women we admire, what we would want to wear, and the inspirations that have been close to us for ages. Its ultimate heroine lies somewhere between Ian McCulloch and Katharine Hepburn. It's about a woman our age, indie by heart, rakish and irreverent by nature, who is maturing into refinement and naturalness."

Hillier is a highly-respected accessories designer who has designed for Loewe, Asprey and Victoria Beckham among anothers, while many will recall Bartley's whimsical designs for her label Luella, which closed in 2009. With two such established fashion creatives working together, we can't wait to see what happens next. Watch this space.
