Insta-girl Gigi Hadid shoots for the stars as she designs a capsule collection for luxury American athleisure brand Tommy Hilfiger
Last year, we reported that model-of-the-moment Gigi Hadid would be turning her hand to fashion design. As the global brand ambassador for Tommy Hilfiger, Gigi's been a staple in the label's runway shows and latest fragrance campaign. But this is the first time she's stretched her talents to design - and judging by the fresh vibe of the nautical-themed collection - it probably won't be her last.
The capsule collection marks a shift in the way Tommy Hilfiger is directing the brand. Fresh from launching '90s-leaning denim line (with a campaign fronted by Hailey Baldwin and Lucky Blue Smith), the Gigi x Tommy collection is a direct nod to Americana, with military jackets, khaki bombers and nautical stripes taking pride of place among modern leather pants, trainers and chunky knits. Arriving into US stores on the same day as the S/S '17 runway show (September 9), the collection will be released globally on September 10.
Gigi has naturally already shared some of the images on her Instagram, which pretty much guarantees millions of likes, and there's even an Instagram handle for the collection: @tommyxgigi. Somehow we think this one is going to be a success.
The Tommy X Gigi collection hits Australian stores on September 12. Outlets include Tommy Hilfiger Melbourne Central, Tommy Hilfiger Doncaster, Tommy Hilfiger Chadstone (opening mid-October), David Jones Elizabeth Street Sydney and David Jones Bourke Street Melbourne.
