The top 5 moments from David Jones S/S’17 show
Feast your eyes
David Jones brought new meaning to the phrase 'dinner and a show' last night, with guests dinning front row on the runway as the department stores' summer looks strutted by. David Jones ambassadors, Jessica Gomes and Jesinta Franklin owned the catwalk, accompanied by our very own Victoria's Secret angels, Shanina Shaik and Bridget Malcolm.
The show was filled with frills, florals, lace and pops of red as models showcased the S/S'17 collections from designers; Ellery, Zimmermann, Christopher Esber, Camilla, Aje, Romance Was Born, Lover, Manning Cartell, Thurley, Lee Matthews, Alice McCall and more.
Beats were provided by LA based producer, DJ Ruckus (who also happens to be Shaik's fiancé). Guests were also serenaded to the soulful voice of New Zealand singer, Hollie Smith.
There was just as much going on off the runway as on, with a never ending guest list of home-grown talent including Teresa Palmer, Montana Cox, Tim Robbards, Anna Heinrich, Ollie Henderson, Tahnee Atkinson, Karl Stefanovic, Ksenija Lukich, and Matty J.
Read on for the top 5 highlights of the night.
1. Dinner provided by Neil Perry
Dinner was served by Australian restaurant extraordinaire Neil Perry. Guests snacked on Sydney rock oysters pre-show, and were treated to a main course of eastern rock lobster with quinoa and kale.
2. The Victoria's Secret angels showed us how they earned their wings
Heaven must have been located on Level Seven of David Jones Elizabeth Street last night, with two of our home-grown angels, Bridget Malcolm and Shanina Shaik strutting down the David Jones catwalk.
3. Bikini bodies were the talk of the show
Jesinta Franklin flaunted rock solid abs and Jessica Gomes showed off legs for days. The two were very open with their exercise and dieting routines in the lead up to the show.
4. A runway kiss
Shanina Shaik schooled finance DJ Ruckus on the art of walking the runway. The two walked hand in hand in hand down the runway before sharing a cheeky mid-walk kiss.
5. Return of the 90s super models
It wasn't just the faces of twenty-something up-and-comers parading David Jones' summer looks, there were a few familiar faces on the runway including 90s supermodels Emma Balfour and Aneliese Suebert. But it was sixty two year old Instagram sensation and fashion icon, Sarah Jane Adams stole the show last night. The runway represented real women of all backgrounds and ages.
