After just 16 months in the job, Lanvin's artistic director Bouchra Jarrar is set to depart the ailing Frenh brand, which has struggled to regain its footing after losing its former designer Alber Elbaz in late 2015. After designing just two seasons for Lanvin, according to a statement released by the brand last night, Bouchra and the label "have mutually decided to put an end to their collaboration. This decision is effective as of today."

It's a sad day for Bouchra, who gave up her eponymous line to head up Lanvin, one of the oldest fashion house in the world. But after posting losses last year - the first time in a decade - the writing was probably on the wall. Nevertheless, it's surely a bittersweet moment for the designer, who was recently awarded of the France's highest honours, l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Office of the Order of Arts and Letters). No announcement has been made about her possible successor.
