Forget Gigi, Kendall and even Cate (Blanchett) – for Giorgio Armani’s spring/summer ’16 campaign he’s gone back to the original supermodels

Shot in Paris by renowned German photographer Peter Lindbergh - revered for his hyper-realistic photography style popularised in the late '80s and '90s - the shots are a lesson in classic pared-back simplicity. Set to highlight a set of timeless wear-anytime Giorgio Armani pieces named 'New Normal', who better to highlight ageless beauty than still-stunning former supermodels Nadja Auermann, Yasmin Le Bon, Stella Tennant and Eva Herzigova?

As Mr Armani explains, "For this campaign, I wanted four iconic women with strong personalities to show that feminine beauty is ageless. I chose Peter Lindbergh, with whom I have collaborated several times, because his photographs are timeless and are true to real life. I wanted to convey a sense of reality, of clothes that offer natural elegance and the normality of everyday life."

As you can see from the black and white behind-the-scenes in the gallery above, the classicicsm inherent in Lindbergh's work is a perfect complement to Armani's own aesthetic. And as for the four age-defying models? As natural beauties with perfect bone structure, we're not sure if their looks are what we'd call normal, but they're certainly elegant enough.

The 'New Normal' collection is available in all Giorgio Armani boutiques.
