American designers like Alexander Wang might be swapping NYFW for alternative show schedules or the dreamy Paris runways, but for Aussie designers making a play for international recognition, NYFW is still a major stepping stone. Announcing she will be showing for the first time on the NYFW schedule this February, Alice McCall joins the likes of Dion Lee and Zimmerman who have moved their presentations to the Big Apple. The label, which is loved by influencers, local celebs and models like Kaia Gerber has increased its retail presence in Australia over the last couple of years and is now even stocked on Net-a-Porter.

"We are so excited to be showing on schedule at NYFW this February," says McCall. "We have been really focusing on international growth and it's been an exciting time seeing the amount of potential for the brand internationally - it's wonderful seeing the support we've received through Net-A-Porter and Moda Operandi of late." While expansion into new territories can be tricky, for a brand as locally successful as Alice McCall, it seems like a natural progression to move into the States.

"Our team has been working on elevating the brand and believe now is the best time to be showing on the runway at NYFW," adds McCall.  Once one of Australia's go-to labels for fun and flirty partywear, we guess the secret won't be ours for much longer.
