Historically, legends are years, if not centuries, in the making, but Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele is well on his way to legendary status just 11 months into job. His debut collections for the luxury fashion house have been breathtaking, exuberantly eccentric and wildly whimsical, a fact that was celebrated just last week when the designer was awarded the coveted British Fashion Council accolade for International Designer of the Year.
Lucky Perth is the first city in Australia - and just the third in the world - to get a new Gucci store with Michele's magic touch. The creative designer's revitalised retail vision was unveiled in Milan in September and less than two months later it has been realised along Perth's chic King Street luxury shopping strip (known as the West End to locals).

Understated and refined with unexpected flashes of rich colour - a Michele signature, we're quickly discovering - the 394sqm store melds glossy marble surfaces and industrial elements with sumptuous velvet armchairs and overlapping oriental carpets. The effect is beguiling and intimate; this is just the place to spoil yourself rotten.
The new King Street store replaces Gucci's Hay Street store and stocks women's and men's ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, jewellery and accessories. Find out more at gucci.com/au.
