The Creative Director of Givenchy announces his departure as rumours intensify of a move to Versace
After 12 long and incredibly successful years at the helm of the LVMH-owned couture house Givenchy comes news of Riccardo Tisci's shock departure from his post as Creative Director. Having been credited with reawakening the once-sleepy maison with his signature dark sensuality, it is thought that his leave follows the end of his contract on January 31.
To EVERYONE involved in these past 12 beautiful years, to the friends, assistants, agents, the collaborators, the press who believed and the ones who didn't, the models who made my dreams come true, the photographers, editors and stylists who brought the clothes to life in the most breathtaking way every time and to so many more : I LOVE YOU AND I AM GRATEFUL FOR EVERY MINUTE, EVERY LAUGH, EVERY MOMENT. FOREVER AND ALWAYS. #love #grateful ❤️
"I have very special affection for the House of Givenchy and its beautiful teams," Tisci said in a joint statement with Bernard Arnault, chairman and chief executive officer of LVMH. "I want to thank the LVMH group and Monsieur Bernard Arnault for giving me the platform to express my creativity over the years. I now wish to focus on my personal interests and passions." The announcement also detailed that the brand would not be presenting at Paris Fashion Week while the new creative direction of Givenchy is being organised.
If the rumour mill is to be believed, industry insiders such as Suzy Menkes are speculating that Tisci will be making the move to Versace in the not-too-distant future. Only time will tell.
