The Brisbane-bred former Miss Universe Australia has worn many hats, but it's her newest one that she's absolutely revelling in

Model, mum and Myer ambassador - Rachael Finch is no stranger to juggling her time spent on different projects and commitments. But it was the six months spent designing a capsule range for luxe Australian basics brand Skin and Threads that she really got a kick out of. "It definitely didn't feel daunting at all, I was really excited by it," says Finch of her first-ever fashion collab. "It was so weird - I thought I would come into the design process and it would be like, 'Ok, this is what we've got - you can choose from this selection.' But Penny [Skin and Threads' creative director] was just like, 'Whatever you want'. I [was] like, 'Are you kidding me!'" she says with a squeal and a laugh.

Tasked with creating the ultimate summer collection, Finch looked to her sunny north Queensland roots and her own active lifestyle for inspiration. "I grew up in Townsville playing sport and living in relaxed clothing. For me, I really wanted to reflect that in the range," she explains. Describing the collection as "loose, relaxed and comfortable clothing you can take from the beach all the way to cocktails in the evening" the range incorporates staples like a classic white tees, kaftans, ponchos, a racer-back summer dress, chambray denim shorts and light cotton sweaters perfect for cooler summer nights.

Sticking to a neutral colour palette of fresh white, soft blues, beige and dove grey Finch worked breathable warm weather fabrics like broderie anglaise, chambray and baby soft cotton into the collection. "I wanted pieces that I could see myself in in each environment over summer - at the beach, in a café, [those] days when you get up and don't want to wear tight clothes," she says. With its throw-on, versatile and travel-friendly appeal - we think the 12-piece collection manages to hit that Australian summer sweet spot right on the head.

The Rachael Finch Skin and Threads collection is available to purchase at their flagship stores, online at and at selected Myer stores.
