Seafolly siren: meet the model behind the sultry new campaign
With her bronzed skin, bee-stung lips, blonde tresses and a portfolio bursting with shoots for Guess and Agent Provocateur, Danish model Emma Stern Nielsen is the poster girl for sun-soaked swim campaign. Here, the Seafolly star takes Buro behind-the-scenes on the fresh new campaign and reveals that there's more to her than meets the eye.
What was your 'scouting story'?
I got scouted in Copenhagen and started modelling when I was 21. Shortly after that I went to New York for a month. In that month I was very lucky to shoot with Ellen von Unwerth and after that it started pretty quick.
Why did you decide to work with Seafolly?
I feel that my idea of the natural beauty, body and vibe is very similar to Seafolly's idea of women. I love that they bring me into the brand the way they did! It's an honour to be able to bring a little bit of my personality into the brand. To be honest it's rare to have that opportunity instead of just showing up and give the superficial side of me, (read: just my looks).
What do you love most about the brand?
That Seafolly have the same idea as me about the female body! We are not all made to look the same so there should be a fit and style for everyone.
What has been the most surreal moment on set for you?
Every time I stand on an amazing location somewhere in the world that I never thought of visiting, it always reminds me how surreal it is to have this job and how lucky I am. Shooting with Seafolly in Australia was certainly one of them, Rainbow Beach was breathtaking.
What was your workout regime before this shoot?
I try to always stay healthy and strong. I don't want to put my body into anything extreme or very different lifestyle for a job. I find that my body doesn't react very well to that. I always try to stay in the same routines, I think that's healthier in the long run.
And your night before ritual (last night)?
Get a lot of sleep!
What do you do in your time off?
Trying to catch up with my family, boyfriend and friends.
What is your secret beauty weapon?
Always have a clean and great skin! With that you can avoid a lot of make-up and it often looks stronger.
What was your favourite look from the shoot?
The white Seafolly quilted triangle bikini that was styled with a super cool silver jacket. Such a cool, feminine and strong look!
What are you reading and watching right now?
Right now I'm reading a book called Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Professor Yuval Noah Harari - I really recommend it. And I'm watching a lot of Seinfeld (as always).
