Time for a change at Gucci: the Pre Basel 2016 collection
New directions
And now Gucci has released its first timepieces inspired by the new creative director's exuberant aesthetic, its highly anticipated Pre Basel collection. Echoing the whimsical spirit of Spring/Summer '16, the new watches are eye-catching yet classic, right down to the honeybee motif engraved on the back of each case (ICYMI - the honeybee is Gucci's new symbol).
The sportiest model in the new collection takes Gucci's heritage green-red-green stripe and fashions it into a contemporary Plexiglass bangle, with a see-through case that reveals the watch mechanisms inside. The honeybee is also printed on the bangle in gold leaf. You can also go for the signature stripe sans Plexiglass, with a new canvas double-loop strap take on Gucci's G-Frame design.

The collection also includes a buttery brown calfskin G-Frame with gold PVD case and mother of pearl dial, or, for something altogether edgier, there's a bold black variant with oversized metal studs. On these two leather versions, Gucci's honeybee appears next to the clasp, in either gold or stainless steel.
