What do you get when you take a heritage, luxury leather powerhouse and mix the delicate work of contemporary demi-couturiers? Nothing short of fireworks.

In a new collaboration between Stuart Vevers of Coach and Rodarte's Kate and Laura Mulleavy, two disparate design approached combine to mix textures and ideas of New York and Los Angeles in a limited-edition capsule collection that borrows from the utility of one brand and the romance of another to exquisite result.

The collection of ready-to-wear and bags is founded on archival references from Coach, in the brands original glovetanned leather and peppered with graphic prints of retro advertising for the brand from the 70s with the Mulleavy's then lending their signature exacted applique and embellishment to the pieces.

"We love how Coach believes in American luxury and craftsmanship. We also love their incredible archive and the imaging of the brand over the years," said the sisters in a statement from the brand. Vevers added, "Rodarte's conceptual approach to American style was the perfect lens to reimagine nostalgic Coach pieces. The mash-up of influences resulted in a romantic cool collection that feels right for both houses."

The collection will be available from the 14th of April at Coach.
