Metal heads, take note. This season's Karen Walker shades have been rendered in brazen shades of metallic blue, gold and silver making them the Kiwi brand's most bold and futuristic yet. Inspired by artist Man Ray's solarisation (a photographic technique he perfected in the '30s), the combination of metal frames with mirrored Zeiss lens is highlighted in the graphic new campaign. If you're fan of Karen Walker sunnies from way back, you'll quickly realise the Metals collection features the label's ultra-flattering trademark shapes: Simone aka Super Duper Strength, Marguerite aka Number One and Emmanuel aka Moon Disco, plus the introduction of aviator-style Jacques.

"This season is about working with new materials for us - Zeiss for lenses and Meta for frames," explains Walker. "We altered our focus with new styles that expose their intrinsic architecture and create a sense of illusion, almost as if the frames float on the face." But when we pressed to share her favourite creation, the fashion designer was tight-lipped: "I treat my eyewear as a wardrobe and don't tend to have just one favourite. I think that's how our fans think about it too." She's not wrong.

The Karen Walker Metals collection is available now. Head to karenwalker.com to explore the range.
