Is there any designer working today who has built a world so wonderfully specific and dreamlike as Alessandro Michele? The Gucci creative director, fresh from launching a 120-look strong men's and women's collection at Milan Fashion Week, returns to form with the S/S '17 Gucci Eyewear campaign.
Enlisting the help of Canadian artist/photographer/newfound Gucci girl Petra Collins, we are transported back to Collins' Hungarian childhood, as two children watching TV are maginacally transported into a Gucci-clad fantasy via their VHS player. Wearing eyewear from the S/S '17 collection, such as the 'Hollywood Forever' glasses, Collins recreates the bike riding, outdoorsy wonder of childhood - albeit, with a very Gucci bent.
Backed by a soundtrack that initially sounds eerily similar to the opening credits of Netflix's Stranger Things (a coincidence? Maybe not.), but then morphs into Baustelle's 'Eye Without a Face' - fall into the #GucciDreamscape via the director's cut below.
