"Don't judge your behind-the-scenes on other peoples' highlight reels" goes the social media self-help saying of contemporary times. Haven't we all felt like our own lives just don't quite measure up to other people's highly curated feeds? Instagram wants to help change that.
Changing the game for what is deemed 'Instagram worthy', the new photo carousel feature allows users to share up to 10 pictures of videos at once kind of like an album, allowing users to swipe left or right to see other content that has been uploaded in the same batch and essentially lessening the pressure to put up the perfect moment. Interestingly, this was one of the same motivating factors for the photo-sharing app to launch Stories last year after findings showed that the high quality of the photos people were posting to the main feed was alienating certain users.
So now, when posting, you can press a button that allows you to upload more than one photo or video at one time with the ability to edit each, organise their order and tag friends. The single caption and location feature will still apply to the entire post, however.
"Share your favorite moments of your best friend's surprise birthday party, from setting up to when they walk through the door. Or create a step-by-step cake recipe that people can always find on your profile," says Instagram.
The feature will begin appearing for iOS and Androis users in the coming weeks.
