In a recent blog post, Instagram announced that it will be rolling out beta-testing for a selection of retailers that will enable users to shop for the products featured in the photos.
As soon as next week, an undisclosed and random number of American users on iOS devices will receive a new 'tap to view' icon on Instagram which will bring up price tags for tagged items in the post. By tapping a price tag, the product will load in a different screen along with its details and a 'Shop now' link that will take you directly to the item's page on the web, effectively allowing you to shop in real time. At the moment, participating retailers include Coach, Michael Kors and Shopbop (among 17 others)
If all goes well with the sample group, plans are to expand globally. We're betting this is going to revolutionise the way we shop online.
