Are you female and after a guaranteed job? You need to read this
In case you needed reminding, it's 2017 and being a tech geek is no longer equated with a specific kind of social doom. I mean, just look at who's running the world (aside from Beyoncé) thanks to their billionaire dollar tech businesses - the likes of Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Page, Sergey Brin and Bill Gates. But if there's one thing they all have in common, it's not the fact they're both white American and filthy rich... it's also the fact they're all male.
And not to get all third, fourth or whatever wave feminist on you, the fact of the matter is this: we women are just as maths-capable, digitally savvy and entrepreneurial as the next dude in sneakers. We just have to wake up to it. Keeping this in mind, our very own Vogue Australia has launched a global first initiative, which aims to address this very shortfall. Women working in digital shouldn't be a rarity, folks.
After kicking off in 2016, VOGUE CODES continues to campaign and empower women to seek careers in technology with a series of events over the next two months. From a sold-out summit on July 28 to two VOGUE CODES Live events in Sydney and Melbourne, attendees have the opportunity to attend live talks with young and inspiring leader who have harnessed the power of digital for their businesses. From Harper & Harley's Sara Donaldson, to P.E. Nation's Pip Edwards, Stylerunner's Julie Svetlana and The Daily Edited's Alyce Tran; rest assured the list of speakers leans towards the aspirational and millennial.
"I'm excited to be a part of VOGUE CODES again this year, owning a business that operates predominately online I'm excited to be part of conversations and listen in on conversations on how to further educate myself and gain confidence in the industry," says Alyce Tran, founder of uber-successful accessories brand The Daily Edited. Considering the booming business Tran has created, we're expecting there will be a whole audience full of would-be entrepreneurs attending. We'll see you there.
