People has confirmed that Swedish-born Academy Award-winning actress Alicia Vikander and her German-born actor beau, Michael Fassbender got married over the weekend in a super secret ceremony on the Spanish island paradise of Ibiza.

According to the piece, the couple tied the knot at the La Granja resort in front of a handful of close friends and family. No photos of the ceremony (including the all-important wedding dress) have surfaced as yet - but the couple were spotted by the Daily Mail wearing their shiny new wedding rings and looking supremely happy.

The low-key ceremony and secrecy surrounding the nuptials seems fitting for the notoriously media-shy couple. Vikander and Fassbender met on the set of The Light Between Oceans back in 2014 and reportedly have been dating ever since - however they have carefully kept their relationship out of the spotlight only appearing on the red carpet together for The Light Between Oceans premiere and rarely together since then.

Vanity Fair reports Derek Cianfrance, director of The Light Between Oceans, says the couple, "...were undeniably (a) good match and they pushed each other... They were going to make one another better. And they were better together." Which sounds very much like the happily ever after storyline from a rom-com film script.

No news if the couple plan to stay on Ibiza for their honeymoon or hit another romantic destination but we do know we'll next see Vikander in 2018's Tomb Raider reboot and Fassbender in X Men: Dark Phoenix in 2018.

Sorry gents, Alicia Vikander is officially off the market
