Proving even the best musical talent in the world can make major errors in judgement, Stacy Ann Ferguson aka Fergie, received a roasting for this performance of The Star-Spangled Banner at an NBA All-Star Game in the US on Sunday night.

Social media was awash with criticism for the performance with outspoken high-profile celebrities like Roseanne Barr (who memorably shouted the national anthem back in the '90s) tweeted, "Who saw Fergie's national anthem performance at the NBA All-Star Game? I think mine was better lowkey."

But in a total show of class, the eight-time Grammy-winning Black Eyed Peas singer released a sorry I messed up statement to TMZ saying, "I've always been honoured and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA. I'm a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn't strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best."

See why even Fergie says her national anthem performance #failed
