It's a sad day indeed when the world's press (us included) spin out over a millennial model and reality TV star quitting Instagram. Earlier this week, we reported that Insta-girl Kendall Jenner had shuttered her Instagram, much to the collective shock of her 68 million followers. 'Why would she do this?!' we all pondered, as we furiously typed out speculative think pieces citing her sister Kim Kardashian's robbery and bestie Justin Bieber as possible catalysts.
Of course, like sister Khloe last month, the model took to The Ellen DeGeneres Show to share the real reason why she quit the social media platform. And it's surprisingly straighforward. "I don't know. I just wanted to detox. I just wanted a little bit of a break," she told Ellen. "I'm always on it... I would wake in the morning and look at it first thing, I would go to bed and it was the last thing I would look at. I felt a little too dependent on it and I wanted to take minute."
The model professes ignorance as to how famous she really is, saying "It's so crazy to me that it even became news like that... I honestly didn't even think anyone would care." (Come on Kendall!). Of course, in true millennial/Gen-Z form, Kendall admits it's a game of on-again-off-again like her peers Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Willow Smith. "I'll be back," she says before confessing that having Twitter off her phone and no Instagram has been giving her slight "withdrawals". We wonder how long it will take for her to give in?
