Is this actress going from ‘Clueless’ to… politics?!?

Because acting/politics: same

Politics is really just another type of stage so it makes sense that ‘Clueless’ actress Stacey Dash is swapping the lights of Hollywood for the glare of Washington D.C.

Actress Stacey Dash is best known for playing Cher's (played by Alicia Silverstone) hilarious best friend Dionne in era-defining '90s hit Clueless - cementing her place in pop culture history with unforgettable exchanges like when Cher asks Dionne if she would call her selfish, and Dionne (Dash) replies, "Not to your face."

Since that break-out role the New York-born actress has been consistently working across film and TV and now she's ready for a different type of stage (because what better way to prep for the cut-throat world of politics than navigating Hollywood?).

The Washington Post reports that Dash - who hinted at a possible political run via Twitter - has now filed the paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to run for a seat in the United States Congress specifically in California's 44th district.

Dash also appears to have already nailed down a catchy campaign slogan, 'Dash to DC', launched a campaign website and is rumoured to be running under the Republican ticket. Dash will run against the current 44th District representative, Democratic Representative Nanette Barrágan.

This is not the first time an actor has gone from Tinseltown to Washington - Ronald Reagan famously swapped the stage for politics becoming the 40th President of the United States - a title that surely trumps "actor". Terminator star Arnold Schwarzeneggar was the Governor of California from 2003 until 2011. And of course everyone is hoping the queen of entertainment, Oprah Winfrey, will make a presidential bid at the next election.
