WARNING: this article (very obviously) contains information that may spoil the final season of Game of Thrones for some readers... In news that should really come as no surprise (given series' creator, George R.R Martin is some sort of fictional masochist / grim reaper hybrid) HBO has confirmed that the season 8 finale of Game of Thrones will include multiple main character deaths. The news was revealed at the INTV Conference in Israel, where HBO SVP, Francesca Orsi participated in a panel titled 'The Best of HBO'.

"It was a really powerful moment in our lives and our careers," said Orsi of the final Game of Thrones table reading. "None of the cast had received the scripts prior, and one by one they started falling down to their deaths." :'(

According to Variety, following the table read, everyone stood up and applauded for 15 - 20 minutes. "By the very end, everyone looked down and looked up and tears were in their eyes," said Orsi.

With more than a year until the alleged April 2019 premiere date of the first episode, we're hoping this gives producers plenty of time to rethink the ending.

While 2019 marks the end of the cult Game of Thrones series, R.R. Martin has confirmed that this will not be the last we see of Westeros, detailing that 5 spin-offs in the form of "prequels" are currently in the works.
