Forbes reveals the highest-paid women on the small screen

There's nothing like another Forbes million-dollar list to make you really reassess your career path (ahem, salary). The business magazine has come out with the highest-paid female TV actors, and there are a couple of surprising (and also unsurprising) faces on the list. The rise of streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu see actresses from binge-watching dramas such as House of Cards enter the top ten ranking, while Sofia Vergara of Modern Family holds the top spot for the sixth year in a row (all hail Gloria Pritchett and her politically incorrect jokes).

However, Vergara's role as Gloria only accounts for one quarter of her earnings; major endorsement deals with Pepsi, Head & Shoulders and Covergirl have helped Vergara maintain her crown. "Our endorsement department is a well-oiled machine," Luis Balaguer, Vergara's manager and business partner for over 20 years, told Forbes.

In comparison, the second spot on the list goes to The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco, who earned $15 million less than Vergara, yet her per-episode earnings of $1 million more than double the Modern Family stars'.

Combined, the world's 10 highest-paid TV actresses made $156.5 million (before taxes and fees) between June 1, 2016, and June 1, 2017. Click through the gallery above to see who else made the list.
