"What I think happened now, after like thinking about it so much, is that there was probably a group of guys that were following us the entire trip," said Kardashian-West on her reality TV show of the lead-up to the event during which she was held up at gunpoint in her Paris hotel, bound, gagged, placed into her bathtub and robbed of $10 million in jewels.

"I was Snapchatting that I was home and that everyone was going out. So I think [the robbers knew [my bodyguard] Pascal was out with Kourtney and that I was there by myself. They had to have known we were leaving that I was there by myself. They had to have known we were leaving that day. They had this window of opportunity and just went for it."

Kardashian-West's described thoughts of escaping but her fears at doing so. "They ask for money. I said, 'I don't have any money'. They dragged me out to the hallyway, on top of the stairs. That's when I say the gun, like, clear as day. I was kind of looking at the hun, looking down back at the stairs," she recounted. "I had a split second in my mind to make this quick decision: Am I gonna run down the stairs? Either they're gonna shoot me in the back or if I make it and they don't, if the elevator does not open in time, or the stairs are locked, then like, I'm f***ed."

Though an obviously harrowing ordeal, many have spoken out that the attack was a direct result of Kim K's penchant for flaunting her jewellery, in particular, the 20-carat, emerald-cut ring worth $4.5 million that she posted a photo of on Instagram just half an hour before the five attackers struck.

"You cannot display your wealth and then be surprised that some people want to share it with you," said Karl Lagerfeld after his Chanel show at Paris Fashion Week, a few days later. "I don't understand why she was in a hotel with no security," he continued. "If you are that famous and you put all your jewellery on [social media], you go to hotels where nobody can come near to the room."

Whether she piqued the interested of her attackers or not, the truly harrowing experience has, in turn, changed the way the mother-of-two uses her social media outlets and is a reminder to all to be cautious of what you put online.
