An emotional Amber Heard features in a new pubic service announcement video for #GirlGaze Project, speaking out about her personal experience of domestic violence. "It happens to so many women. When it happens in your home, behind closed doors with smeone you love, it's not as straightforward," Heard explains in the two-minute clip. "If a stranger did this, it would be a no brainer."

This comes just three months after Amber Heard settled her controversial divorce with Pirates of Caribbean actor Johnny Depp, who she claimed was abusive during their fifteen-month marriage. The pair finally settled the messy Depp-Heard drama after Amber withdrew the request for a restraining order.

"How is this happening to me? I'm strong. I'm smart. I'm not a victim. There is a lot of shame attached to that label of victim.... As a woman having gone through this in the public arena that I did, I have a unique opportunity to remind other women that this doesn't have to be the way it is, you don't have to do it alone, you're not alone and also we can change this," she says.
