The destruction wrought by Hurricane Harvey's devastating path through Houston, Texas calls for a ton of USD to help provide relief to the residents of the area and start the enormous clean up and rebuild operation, and what better way to raise those dollars than a star-studded money-raising telethon? It's old school, but it works.

Variety reports the death toll from the hurricane has hit 63 with, "...tens of thousands of people in the southeast Texas region... displaced from homes that were damaged or destroyed after days of torrential rain." Which is a shocking set of numbers.

To kick off the relief effort for those thousands of storm-affected Texan residents, Variety reports Hollywood is coming out in force for a one-hour money-raising telethon, called Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief which will air live in the US on September 12 across a slew of networks including ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CMT.

All the biggest names will be on hand to take calls or appear in live or taped segments including Beyoncé, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon, Oprah Winfrey, Karlie Kloss, Rob Lowe, Jamie Foxx, Matthew McConaughey, Dennis Quaid, Kelly Rowland, Adam Sandler, Barbara Streisand and Ryan Seacrest.

Per Variety, proceeds from the telethon will be, "...distributed to a range of charities aiding recovery efforts in Houston... organizations include the United Way of Greater Houston, Habitat for Humanity, Save the Children Feeding Texas and the Mayor's Fund for Hurricane Harvey Relief."
