It's Friday, July 21 which means only one thing: Splendour kicks off today in picturesque North Byron Bay. Arguably Australia's best weekend-long festival, Splendour in the Grass may rudely fall smack-bang in the dead of winter, but that doesn't stop thousands of revellers from descending on the Byron hinterlands to revel in the music, mud and, er, magical tipi forests.

As always, Splendour attracts the lion's share of artists on tour, plus a few once-in-a-generation kind of artists, such as this year's iconic headliner The Cure. Robert Smith and his English rocker mates will also be joined by The Strokes, Flume, The Avalanches, James Blake, The Kills, Jack Garratt, Santigold, Courtney Barnett, Leon Bridges and many, many more incredible artists for the three-day party. (For more info on sideshows, check out our Buro 24/7 culture guide for July.)

While there's more artists on the lineup than I care to count, I've compiled a list of some of the best in our Buro Spotify playlist below. From classic crowd-pleasers to new release goodness, here, I present the cream of Splendour 2016's acts.

A word of warning before you begin: tracks are ordered from chilled to bangers, so scan the list, then hit play from wherever your mood is at...
