High schools' most notorious super-bitch trio are just as scary as ever in the trailer for the TV-reboot of the 1980s cult classic Heathers. The trailer dropped during the VMAs yesterday, but we will forgive you for being distracted by Taylor Swift's narcissistic music video and Katy Perry's cringe-worthy jokes.

While the original Heathers are probably today side-eyeing us from a boutique yoga studio, the new group of Heathers are refreshingly progressive. According to The Hollywood Reporter, in the TV-reboot Heather McNamara (played by Jasmine Mathews) is a lesbian black woman, Heather Duke (played by Brendan Scannell) is a gender queer male whose real name is Heath, and Heather Chandler (played by Melanie Field) has a "body like Martha Dumptruck." Bad-girl-turned-good-turned-murderer, Veronica Sawyer will be played by Grace Victoria Cox and James Scully will play her rebel of a boyfriend J.D. Accorting to THR, the pilot will also see a cameo from original the Heather Duke, Shannen Doherty.

The 10 episode anthology will launch on the upcoming Paramount Network in 2018.  Watch the trailer toss an instant throwback with this one liner below: "Well fuck me gently with a chainsaw."
