A brand new trailer has dropped this week for "The Deuce", HBO's cool, 70s-set retro drama about the beginnings of the American sex industry, which we took a first look at early last month.

Directed by The Wire creators David Simon and George Pelecanos, the sizzling drama sees James Franco as twins Vincent and Frankie Martino, bar owners whose Times Square haunt becomes a front for the mob, and Maggie Gyllenhaal (also a co-producer), a vivacious sex worker Eileen "Candy" Merrell, who not only rocks a wicked blonde perm, but sasses it up like we've never seen her.

Supported by a huge cast and even bigger 1970s soundtrack, the retro drama promises a nuanced, sizzling look at the early beginnings of the legalisation of pornography and the rise of the sex industry, in the harsh light of New York at it's dirtiest.

The Deuce comes to Australian screens on Monday, September 11, only on Foxtel FX.
