It would be fair to say we all know the plotline of the upcoming Jackie Kennedy biopic Jackie. JKF's assassination and the decline of the universally adored, picture perfect Kennedy family is part of modern American folklore, so it stands to reason that audiences will be watching mostly to check out Natalie Portman's acting chops. That said, it's a fascinating story of shattered American dreams and a snapshot of a revered part of US history - one that seems even more revelatory when you compare it what's happening in US politics right now.

The second Jackie trailer reveals more of Natalie Portman

After the first trailer dropped last month, the second teaser of the film has been released overnight. Choosing to focus on the aftermath of the 1963 President JFK assassination, Jackie offers a searing portrait of the poised and elegant First Lady in the throes of grief under intense public scrutiny. Even if Natalie Portman's face doesn't quite resemble Jackie Kennedy's, she seems to have filled in the differences by emulating the cadence of her voice and, of course, her regal demeanour and flawless style.

Watch the clip below and let us know what you think. Could the actress win her second Oscar for this one?

Jackie hits US cinemas December 2. Watch this space for updates on the Australian premiere.
