Who else is loving is loving all of these film re-makes? Not only do we have Baywatch, Tomb Raider, and Power Rangers to look forward to, but also the re-creation of the bellowed 1995 classic, Jumanji.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle stars Hollywood heavy weights Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Kevin Hart and Jack Black. But unlike its original predecessor, this Jumanji movie is taking on a bit of a different spin. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the cast recently attended the CinemaCon panel this week to talk details on the new film. The biggest thing we noticed is that this Jumanji is based on a video game - not a board game like it's original. "They find an old video game console, which features the game Jumanji. You pick a character, and as the teens learn you are that person in the game ... Which transports you to a jungle," the cast explained at CinemaCon.
Dwayne Johnson has previously explained the difference between films on an Instagram post a while back. He clarified, "for the record we are NOT making a reboot, but rather a continuation of the awesome Jumanji story."
But it also seems as though this version has a more light-hearted and playful approach on its characters. When explaining the roles, The Hollywood Reporter said: " [After being transformed into the game] one rather nerdy boy is surprised (and rather pleased) to see he's got the muscles of The Rock. The popular girl in school is horrified to learn she's got the body of Jack Black. So yep, part of the fun of this movie is Black is playing a teenage girl and the Rock is playing a nerd. As for star Karen Gillian's controversial skimpy costume, as The Rock promised months ago, yes, there's a reason for it. "
Okay, now we're really getting desperate for the trailer. Jumanji will hit theatres Dec 22, stay tuned!
