Anything the Oscar-winning Coen brothers do is always highly-anticipated, their filmmaking list is long, interesting and incredibly varied ranging from screwball comedies Intolerable Cruelty, The Big Lebowski and O Brother, Where Art Thou? to Oscar-winning crime thrillers Fargo and No Country for Old Men.

But unlike other filmmakers they don't stick to a specific genre, instead choosing unrelated projects in such an unpredictable manner it keeps everyone guessing, which is the calling card of a great storyteller.

There is one theme though that they have visited a number of times with different casts and narratives and that's America's Wild West. And with a wealth of stories, history and folklore, is there any wonder these creative bros are keen to mine it for entertainment purposes?

It seems like a no brainer and Netflix agrees. Slated for a 2018 Netflix release Variety reports the Coen brothers are developing a Western anthology called, The Ballard of Buster Scruggs featuring, "...six tales about the American frontier. Each chapter will feature a different story about the American West. The project will star Tim Blake Nelson as Buster." The brothers will be across all aspects of the show serving as executive producers, writers and directors.
